While wood in early Egypt was abundant, not all of the native woods could suffice for the needs of the people, so much of their wood was imported by neighboring countries (mostly from the South). Most of the wood used for furniture also came from these neighbors. The more angled pieces such as the headrest was cut from wood with "bent grain" (Petrie 1910, 138). |
